Last move…

You know how I said I was never moving again? I lied. I have since moved twice, but this is the last time for quite a while, as we now own our own home instead of renting.

And which means SWMBO now has a zillion more jobs for me to do.

I dug part of the vege garden this morning. Exciting stuff.
I actually got further than the pic, this ia kind of a “before” pic, I’d just started.
I was so exhausted afterwards I forgot to do an “after” one.

I do like having a large backyard for the demi-humans though, even if it is tiered.

Sharing thoughts

I thought this blog might be a nice way to organise my thoughts, rather than spreading myself over Facebook, Google+ and Instagram, and then cross-sharing between.

Recently I decided that Facebook is really not for me anymore, too many random people adding me, and not required as I was previously pushing my business through a page there – which I am basically closing down and have a wages job again. So I already decided to onyl share on G+.

However, if only sharing on Google+, then why wouldn’t I just make the post there to start with?

And so I most likely will not be posting here anymore…  at best I think this helped me realise that I really did not want to post everything on facebook, however am happy with Google plus and it’s far more transparent privacy via Circles.

Over and out.

Taupo Track Day

Yesterday I had to go to Taupo Race Track to tune a mate’s car. Tuning involves me sitting in the passenger seat in a race suit and helmet, with a laptop in my lap trying to tune while he drives around the circuit. Oh, and did I mention others are racing around at the same time too?

It actually went very well, I worked out why his engine blew up (negative 15 degrees ignition split @ 20psi will do that) and we got some km’s on his new engine before oil leaks put an end to our day. We didn’t pinpoint the leak but it had saturated his gearbox scatter blanket anyway, so fire safety sensibility dictated we stop.

Club-K that ran the day for their club members kindly allowed us to bring a car to run, and SWMBO raced around in that while I was tuning. It was a good opportunity as she had never been on the circuit, having only competed in local Street Sprints and Hillclimbs.
Had an awesome time, one of the most well organised and relaxed groups of people I’ve seen.

Social obligations

We’ve all been through it. That party or function that you really can not be bothered going to, but you already rsvp’d saying your would because it’s an old friend or whatever.
I just went to one such event. A mate’s 30th. Don’t get me wrong, he’s a good mate and a really nice guy. It’s just that at events run by his family (it seems his parents have great influence in his and his brothers lives) about  60% are family, 30% his workmates, and 10% his friends. Myself, being one of his friends, would rather watch paint dry than converse with anyone there.
Maybe there were less family this time, they are possibly starting to drop off by now.

Another of his friends whom we went to school with turned up, so at least I had someone to talk to. Turns out he feels the same way about these functions.
We had a laugh about how we didn’t really need to catch up as it is all on Facebook anyway, and chuckled at the largish guy going back for a heaped third helping of supper.

Which I got in trouble for.

It seems it was my mate’s (who’s party it was) brother in law, and his wife berated me for laughing at her brother. I felt bad at the time, but you know what? I actually don’t now.
I can’t take the piss out of the fat dude with the mountain of food, yet it’s socially acceptable to ridicule smokers? hmmm…
